Simple:
In the above class, the follow are class variables.
statusMessage: '',
currentLinkID: 'myLink'

You declare them much like you do with functions but without the "function" keyword. Then you access them with:

this.statusMessage or this.currentLinkID.

instance variables are declare with "var" like so insider your functions:
var instanceVariable = '';

Boyan: Great overview of using Prototype classes - very powerful stuff. The only thing I noticed that might cause some problems for people is the local variable declaration when you initialize the singleton of your Class sampleObject:

Event.observe(window, 'load', function() {
var sampleObjectInstance = new sampleObject();
});

- The var should be removed so the reference to the instantiated object is available as a global reference (aka: within the window object). Am I right in thinking this, or am I missing something?
